Orthodox Icons, Religious Keepsakes,
Jewelry and More
The history of Holy Icons is directly connected with the
history of the Holy Orthodox Faith
In the 4th century the Byzantine Empire
adopted Christianity. Emperor Constantine became the first Christian
Emperor, influenced by his mother, St. Helen. The Orthodox Faith having
been established in Palestine, Syria, Mesopotamia, Italy and Africa now
began to spread through Cappadocia and all of Greece and northward to
the Balkans; Serbia, Bulgaria, Macedonia then on to Russia. Georgia was
already Christian. And also in the west to France, Germany and England
having spread through eastern Europe, Poland, Romania and the
Carpathian region. Holy Orthodox Faith still flourishes in most every
land in the world, even in places like China, South America and now
here in America, who now boasts many of her own saints.
We wish to remind our patrons of the
following:
The Orthodox Church has three art forms
which reflects and teaches Her theology. They are Iconography, that is
holy icons, Next is Hymnnography, that is expressed in Her hymns,
prayers and services.Lastly Hagiography, that is, the lives of the
saints. We hope to impart some edification to our patrons with what we
have to offer.
