Guris, Shamouna and Habib- These martyrs, of the city of Edessa in Syria, contested during the reign of Diocletian, in 288; after many tortures, they were cast into prison and then beheaded. Saint Habib, the deacon, contested during the reign of Licinius in the year of 316 and was burned alive; he was buried with the saints Guria and Shamuna. The three have a common feast and they are always shown together in icons and are prayerfully invoked by the faithful.
