Lydia (Disciple of St. Paul)-Lydia was the first European woman to be converted to Christ by St. Paul while he was preaching in Philippi (Acts 16:14). Her name may indicate where she was from, (a woman of Lydia), since Thyatira. where she lived, was in the province of Lydia. She apparently was a worshipper of God and a convert to Judaism but this is not certain. She did know enough about Judaism to converse with St. Paul about the religion. Her profession as a ?seller of purple?.
