Mark was a traveling companion of St. Peter and wrote his first epistle.While in Rome the faithful begged him to write down teaching of the Lord. This lead to the Gospel of St. Mark. Peter appointed Mark as bishop and sent him to Egypt. There he established the Church and ordained Bishops, priests and deacons. The pagans became enraged and he was seized and tied him by rope and had him dragged over the ground. He endured and was put in prison where he was visited by Christ and was encouraged. he was later dragged again and he gave up his soul.
